Dunedin Film School Prize

The top six films will win a week long workshop in Dunedin working with filmmakers, scientists and masters students from the University of Otago's Centre for Science Communication. Up to 18 students will have the opportunity to use state of the art film and editing equipment to make a film.

“What if my or our team's film is one of the top six best judged (official) films?”
You will be informed by telephone by the second week of June.
“When will the workshop in Dunedin take place?”
The workshop will take place from Monday 5th July to Friday 9th July.
“Who pays for my travel, accommodation food etc?”
This will all be paid by the competition organizers.
“Do I book my travel to Dunedin?”
No this will be booked for you.
“Where will I stay in Dunedin?”
You will stay with all the other student filmmakers, probably near Otago University. There will also be adult supervision.
“What other things will I be doing in Dunedin if I am selected?”
There will be a mixture of social activities and filmmaking jaunts. It will be an awesome week!

Ultimate Prize

At the end of the week in Dunedin the six films made during that week will be judged.

“When will the top film be announced?”
This will be announced at the end of your week in Dunedin on Friday 14th July at a celebratory function.
“What will I win or my team win if our film has been voted as the top film?”
Each team member will win an Apple MacBook Pro with Final Cut Express editing software.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Two students from Pakuranga College have won a science film competition with a five minute film about medical research.

Christian Jones and Allen Feng were among 16 students who were finalists in the inaugural Freemasons Reel Science Film Festival competition run by the Royal Society of New Zealand.

The winners of the most popular vote contest, Wellington High School students Orion Holder-Monk, Jordan Keen and Wilson Cain present the cam-corder worth $1,000 to Prue Kelly, Principal at Wellington High School.
